Most weeks we release early versions of Minecraft updates to test out new features, shake out wrinkles, and eliminate bugs before they're released to more people. It's a cool way for players like you to check out the new things we're working on prior to when it's officially released! If the idea of seeing new things for the first time has you excited and you're not worried about potentially running into some bugs along the way, then have a look at your favorite platform below! But be aware: These versions are, by nature, unstable and can cause problems, weird, or wonky. You might lose your game or the items you've built may be damaged. It's a small risk but it's still a risk! These versions do not have access to Realms or Featured Servers, and can only play in multiplayer worlds alongside other players on the same version of the game. ANDROID Disclaimer: You need to own the original Minecraft game to test the future Minecraft features on Android. Android has the ability to join a Beta program which you can join at any time. Be aware that when you join this Beta you replace your standard version of Minecraft with the Beta version. To join the Android Beta, find the official Minecraft app in the Google Play store. Scroll down to the "Join the Beta" section and click "Join". Wait a few minutes and start your regular Minecraft app. Be aware that this could take a while however, eventually your application will switch to the beta version. If you decide later to quit the Beta you can go back to the Google Play store and scroll down to "You're beta-testing" and click "Leave". Your app will eventually return to the normal Minecraft version. It is also possible to enable experimental features within the game in order to test the most recent Minecraft features. Windows 10 and 11 Disclaimer: You need to own the original Minecraft game, subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass to try out the upcoming Minecraft features on Windows. Java Edition Snapshots are test versions of the Java Edition. Click the arrow beside the Play button on Minecraft's main tab to select the most current snapshot. After that, click the Play button. Bedrock Edition In the Bedrock Edition, test versions are frequently released in Minecraft Preview. You can download and access Minecraft Preview by selecting the "Minecraft Preview" tab within the Minecraft Launcher and then clicking the "Install" or "Play" button. XBOX One Disclaimer: To experience the new Minecraft features on Xbox you must have the digital version of the Minecraft game. It is part of Xbox Game Pass. Preview is not available for Disc owners. The Bedrock Edition includes test versions that are released periodically in Minecraft Preview. Search for Minecraft Preview in the Microsoft Store and click Install on the resulting product page. To get started you can now open Minecraft Preview by clicking "Play Preview". iOS Minecraft Preview is now available on both iPhones and iPads. Follow the steps to access the slots once they become available. We may occasionally open additional slots, and we'll also take out inactive users to let new people in. Go to the "Create New World" or "Edit World" setting. To create a new environment go to the "Game" setting. Scroll down to "Experiments" to find the toggle you want to activate. There will be a pop-up asking you to "Activate Experimental Gameplay?". Click "Activate Experimental Gameplay". info If you are using an existing world it will create a second copy of your world with "Copy ..."" added to it. MACOS & LINUX Disclaimer: To use the coming Minecraft features on MacOS or Linux you must play the original Minecraft game. Snapshots are regular test versions of the Java Edition. In the Minecraft Launcher, select the most recent snapshot by clicking the icon next to the Play button on the main tab and then click the Play button. To test the most recent Minecraft features, you may require activating some of the experimental features. Enter the "Create A New World" setting. Click on "Data packs" to select the data pack you wish to play. Click on "Done" and when you reach the next screen you can click "Create New World".
